ACES & LEADERS: Spitfire Mk XII & Mk XIV
A second SQUADRONS! series book spin-off:
Combining meticulously-researched historical context with high-fidelity aircraft illustrations, Gaëtan Marie and Phil H. Listemann present a history of some of the most notorious aces and leaders to fly the Supermarine Spitfire Mk XII and Mk XIV in combat. The Spitfire Mk XII was the first production variant powered by the Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, giving it excellent low-altitude speed and climb performance for intercepting German fighters and raiders. The later Mk XIV combined a more powerful two-stage Griffon engine with improved aerodynamics, making it one of the fastest and most capable Spitfires of the war. It was especially important in combating V-1 flying bombs and opposing advanced German aircraft from 1944 onwards. Together, these variants marked the Spitfire’s evolution from a light Merlin-powered fighter into a heavier, faster and more powerful interceptor, while preserving the aircraft’s famous agility and handling qualities. In 40 aircraft profiles are included in this publication, offering inspiration to modelers. https://www.raf-in-combat.com/downlo...mk-xii-mk-xiv/ |

As some Amazon book descriptions show, text editing is not as meticulous in some cases as it should be.

Re: ACES & LEADERS: Spitfire Mk XII & Mk XIV
Just to name a few, Johnson, Gray, Keefer, Lacey...but if we take the inside look from a different angle, we have:
DFC: 12 DFC*: 11 DFM*: 1 DFC**: 2 DSO, DFC: 1 DSO, DFC*: 1 DSO, DFC**: 1 DSO*, DFC*: 1 DSO*, DFC**: 1 DSO**, DFC*: 1 and for those who are not notorious, that doesn't mean that they are not interesting. |

Re: ACES & LEADERS: Spitfire Mk XII & Mk XIV
Notorious describes someone or something widely known for negative behavior, such as a crime or a bad reputation. Perhaps you meant notable?

Re: ACES & LEADERS: Spitfire Mk XII & Mk XIV
Notorious in the eyes of their opponents, perhaps?

Re: ACES & LEADERS: Spitfire Mk XII & Mk XIV
It seems that the word 'notorious' was not the good one, so it has been changed in the description. Thanks for the advice.
