Rob - what I believe is that 'Jeeter' Neal was chasing two Fw 190's in a dive, his wingman pulled out as they went into cloudbank (Fritts Statement in MACR) and when he finally recovered from the dive he (Fritts) was just off the deck and saw no a/c in sight before climbing back out - leading one to conclude that Neal was not shot down but crashed chasing the Fw 190..misjudging the altitude.
I don't think it unreasonable, however for Seidl to make the claim, just curious with regard to how he reported the claim? Regards, Bill
