Re: Mustang attack on Budweis 27-3-45
Hi David,
Budweis should be Ceske Budejovice. The "beer town" is located in the south of Czech republic. I will check database when I return home tonight. Regards, Michal |

Re: Mustang attack on Budweis 27-3-45
Hi Michal
Yep would agree with you that its Ceske Budejovice, there were no US fighter claims in the air on this date so it would prob be for two Me109s shot up on the ground at this airfield. David PS would you have any info on RAF Mosquito attacks on airfields in Czechoslovakia ? Or any other ground attacks by these aircraft ? 406, 418 and 605 Sqns all made attacks in Czechoslovakia 44/45. Last edited by David Pausey; 8th March 2007 at 17:37. |

Re: Mustang attack on Budweis 27-3-45
Hello David,
According to Fighter Units and Pilots of the 8th Air Force by Kent D. Miller there were no claims for enemy aircraft destroyed or damaged on the ground by 8th USAAF units on March 27, 1945. So it was possibly a 9th or 15th USAAF Mustang, most likely a recce F-6 (given the nature of an attack). Hope this helps a little, Ota |

Re: Mustang attack on Budweis 27-3-45
Dear all, there is no attack on ground target reported on March 27, 1945 in Bohemia at all as far as I can tell. I am writing a blog on strafing, which is based on various archival material. But a couple of RR stations were strafed on March 25 and 26. Please see http://hloubkari.bloguje.cz
