The 3.(F) 123
Halló
I wonder if any one of you could help me out with information on this Staffel when serving for Fliegerfuhrer Atlantik, the kommandur, staffelcapitan etc. from 1941 to 1944. Is there a book, biograpi, stories,? for this staffell from both Norway and France. This staffel operated 4U+ aircraft, some Do but mostly Ju88, A to H models. Thank you beforhand. Gudbrandur. |

Re: The 3.(F) 123
Gudbrandur,
There are two books relating to 3./123, they are:- The Easter Bunnies: Long-distance Reconaissance by the German Luftwaffe Over Poland, France, England and the Atlantic 1938-1945" by Wendy Von Well and Roman Gastager Price £17.05. on Amazon Paperback: 230 pages Publisher: Trafford Publishing (29 Aug 2006) Language English ISBN-10: 1412095247 ISBN-13: 978-1412095242 And another "Roman Gastager und die Eiserne Dritte" by Ingo Mobius Both recount the story of Roman Gastager who, as Andy Fletcher pointed out on the Luftwaffedata forum, was a Bs with 3.(F)/123. Hope that this is of help.

hi I think they also operated Bf-109's from about 41. I also seem to remember some POW reports in the JU-88 file at NA, ( something about 'robot' cameras in the JU-88's ? ) cheers Jerry |

Re: The 3.(F) 123- Bunnies
I don't have the book with me but I believe the name " Eatser Bunnies " was given to the author's green crew when they joined the unit

Re: The 3.(F) 123
As Del says the ''Easter Bunnies'' was the name given to five new crewmen reporting to 3(F)/123 by the St.Kap in March 1940, only Roman Gastager survived from the five,

Re: The 3.(F) 123
Thanky you all,
if Roman Gastager survived the five, do you mean the war to the end.? Is there a list of old hand surrvivers that served the staffel from the start to the end.? I am looking for the names of the lucky ones a live from start to finish. 1940 to 1945. I just boght the Easter Bunnies book but have to wait for 10 days for the thing. That is a long time. My best regards to you all for the info. Gudbrandur. |
