I fully agree with "Vati"....in over 25 years of Luftwaffe research I have found that often it takes an enormous amount of effort to really work out a "Luftkampf" in all it's details and still you might not have found the answer. Not finding an answer doesn't mean it did not happen....

What Vati and John have said is true but for me it doesn't invalidate the work of trying to untangle historical events. What's important is to take care in wording your findings.

To be fair, and retain a semblance of balance, the same intensity of scrutiny has to be applied to British and American aces as well.
