Bf 109 with Swiss insignia?

I believe the Swiss purchased some from Germany.

1)Can anyone tell me how many were in operation?
2)Which models?
3)And finally, has anyone got any coulor references? I just want to see the Swiss wing and vertical stab insignia.

As usual, warm regards,

Re: Bf 109 with Swiss insignia?

If you are able to read German there is a great reference book available on Swiss Messerschmitt Bf 109s.

Die Messerschmitt Me 109 in der Schweizer Flugwaffe - ein Stück Zeitgeschichte

http://www.georg-hoch.ch/28201.html

Available at Christian Schmidt (to name a source).

Re: Bf 109 with Swiss insignia?

Going back to the Swiss Bfs........Were most of these interned or purchased by the Swiss Government?

Are these the sort of fighters that USAAF crews might have come across when bringing in their damaged ships to ''neutral'' Switzerland?
