Eastern Front Experten

Would appreciate any help with information for the following pilots operating over the Eastern front:
  • Uffz. LEUKEIT - flew with 1./NAGr. 2 gaining at least 12 victories
  • Lt. LOSSAU - flew with 2./NAGr. 2 gaining at least 9 victories
  • Fhj.-Fw. TETZNER - flew with 2./NAGr. 4 gaining at least 6 victories
  • Oblt. POHL - flew with 1./SG 10 gaining at least 7 victories
  • Uffz. RISCHBIETER - flew with Stab III./SKG 10 and later, as Fw. with 6./SG 4 and Fhj.-Fw. with 7./SG 4 gaining at least 5 victories
  • Fw. TRESTLER - flew with 2./ZG 1 and later, as Ofw. with 3./ZG 26 gaining at least 5 victories
In particular I'm looking for first names and fates of these pilots. The information listed above was all extracted from Tony Wood's Combat Claims.

Many thanks
Gordon

Re: Eastern Front Experten

Scanning our notes, we come up with few hits. Your guys are all small fish and don’t show up on our radar. All we have are the following, which may or may not be relevant:

POHL, ? . 1945 Oblt. and Staka 1./SG 10.

TETZNER, Hans. (DOB: 04.06.19). 10.01.42 Lt. and Staka 13./JG 77, appt Staka 4./JG 5 (to 03.06.44). 01.04.42 promo to Oblt. 04.06.44 appt acting Kdr. II./JG 5 (to 19.07.44 KIA). 01.07.44 posthumous promo to Hptm. Credited with c.20 air victories.

That’s all we can find.

Re: Eastern Front Experten

Thanks Doug

Every little bit helps! However, I suspect that "my" TETZNER and "your" TETZNER may be two different pilots. Hopefully an Aufklärer expert may be able to shed some light on these guys.

Thanks again
Gordon

Re: Eastern Front Experten

Gordon,

I have in my notes a Ofw. Johannes Trestler of JG6 KIA 31 January 1945 (sorry I didn't record the source) that would fit one of the requested names.

I/ZG1 became I/ZG26 in October 1943 and I/ZG26 became I/JG6 in July 1944 and being of the rank Ofw. amd this all fits in with claims listed on Tony woods site.

Regards,

Craig...

Georg Rischbieter.

He maybe was my dentist when I was a child. I remember that there were some B/W pictures of planes in the practice of Dr. med. dent. Rischbieter. If anyone knows wether this man did study Zahnmedizin after the war, I would appreciate that.

Do you have any details on his claims?

Re: Eastern Front Experten

Gordon,

There is a bit about Georg Rischbieter in Arthy & Jessen's Focke-Wulf Fw 190 in North Africa. He claimed 2 Spitfires with 10./SKG 10 in Tunisia before being WIA on 24 April 1943. He claimed 3 more Spitfires with 6./SG 4 in Italy during the Fall of 1943. Awarded the Deutsche Kreuz in Gold on 20.03.44. Also I have claims for a LaGG-9 (sic) destroyed and a La-5 damaged in July 44 with 7./SG 4.

You say you found 5 claims for Trestler, however I have only found 4 as follows:

03.04.43 LaGG-5
14.10.43 B-17
28.05.44 B-17
20.06.44 B-24

Can you tell me the missing 5th claim?

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Eastern Front Experten

The KTB of III./SG4 (on microfilm at the Imperial War Museum) mentions that Rischbieter's aircraft was severely damaged by Flak during Unternehmen Bodenplatte.
