Pilots and radio operator teams 2./ZG76 1940
Dear all,
During 10th, 11th and 12th May 1940 Oblt Gustav Uellenbeck and Uffz Ernst Kalinowski of 2./ZG76 achieved some ground victories in Holland. I'm looking for the names of the radio operators (Bordfunker) who teamed up with above mentioned pilots during that time. Hopefully somebody has this on file? Thanks in advance, Hans Nauta |

Re: Pilots and radio operator teams 2./ZG76 1940
Where is your evidence that they were operating over Holland as I/ZG 76 was based in Scandinavia at this time? In any case, Uellenbeck's Bf was Uffz Otto Dombrewski; Kalinowski's was Gefr Zwickl

Re: Pilots and radio operator teams 2./ZG76 1940
Hello Chris,
Thanks for your quick reply. It suprised me too that 2./ZG76 seemed to be involved in air operations over Holland. According to notitions of the late Heinrich Weiss, Oblt Uellenbeck claimed 12 ground victories, Lt Eckhardt 15 ground victories, Uffz Kalinowski 5 ground victories and Fw Neureiter 4 ground victories on airfields in NW Holland during the first 3 days of the May campaign. Primary sources are unfortunatley (yet) unknown to me. Best regards, Hans Nauta |

Re: Pilots and radio operator teams 2./ZG76 1940
Hans: I remember having made an inquiry back in August regarding the airfield attacks in the Netherlands, specifically DeKooy, and I too, was surprised that 2/ZG76 may have been involved. Obviously your current Info. suggests they were. Not to "beat on a dead horse", but, again, Fw. Neurieter's name crop's up. Anything in your Info.that suggests if he was in fact a pilot, or Bordfunker/Bordshutze? Regards. Dean.

Re: Pilots and radio operator teams 2./ZG76 1940
Gentlemen: First things first, I have checked the letter head for Dombrowsky and it is as Robert says. Second, surviving logbooks for 1 & 3/ZG 76 indicate that they were still operating in Norway but Uellenbeck was meant to be part of the Sonderstaffel operating in Norway/Narvik. Dombrowsky's letter to me makes no mention of operating in Holland.......so where is this evidence? Seems odd that pilots from just one staffel were operating over France but 2 Staffel was in Aalborg so they could have participated but the question is why?

Re: Pilots and radio operator teams 2./ZG76 1940
Hans: Thank you for clarification Re: Fw. Neurieter. Does anyone know of details relating to any of I/ZG1 and II/ZG1's missions on 10.5.40? Beyond of course the early morning raids on Haamstedt and Vlissingen, and the well known combat with 600Sqn's fighter blenheims, could they have been involved? Another mystery is who's Bf110's were responsible for taking a piece out of 40Sqn's blenheims later in the day. was there any other Zerstorer units operating over Holland on this date? The evidence certainly seems strong that 2/ZG76 could have been involved when one considers the large # of A/C destroyed on the ground on and around Texel this date. Regards Dean
