Hello Richard,
Unless there's someone who has this event on file by pure coincidence, the other way is to have a look in the 8th Air Force Narratives. These are held in the AIR40 class in The National Archives in London. These narratives may reveil the involved unit, but likely not more than tat. The next step is to check the (involved) Group Records in the NARA in Washington to match this event with a specific P-38 and pilot. For future contact and investigation: 'Luchtbeschermingsdienst' is translated as Air Raid Precautions Department as far as I know. Good luck! Hans Nauta |
