In the book 'HMS Fidelity' (see my earlier posting) the arrival of the Kingfishers was framed in such a way that it is clear the ship's crew were not in the habit of dealing with aircraft. The book is so full of tales of 'thrilling deeds' that I am sure the writer would have included them if he had known of them.

Just thought I would tidy up a loose end: Michael Pollard, an ex-coastal forces sailor, wrote his wartime memoirs entitled 'A Stage in My Education'. In it, he recounts his time served on Fidelity and confirms that the two aircraft aboard the ship in late 1942 were Kingfishers.
