Re: S.79 from 9 Stormo MIA on 15.06.40

From the book: "IL SAVOIA MARCHETTI S.M.79 nel secondo conflitto mondiale" by Cesare Gori:

Six S.79 of the 9° Stormo B.T. took off at 7.05, their target being Ghisonaccia airport. One of them, MM 22018 from 11a Squadriglia, was hit by the AAA and was lost.
The crewmembers were: S.Ten. pil. Ezio Mordenti, Serg. Pil. Armando Manfredo, Av. Sc. mot. Silvano Nesti, Av. Sc. arm. Romeo Bartolani.
The other five bombers landed back at Viterbo after 80 minutes of flight.

It was the only S.79 lost during the short campaign against France.

Best regards

Gianandrea
