Nick, if you live not far from Staplehurst I highly recommend contacting Ted. He is looking for people who can help him with his project. It is a great idea! Unfortunately I cannot help him with his research on a daily basis because of the distance, but local enthusiasts certainly can. If you're interested in aviation I'm pretty sure he'll be able to tell you at least a few stories about local crash sites.
With regards
Peter hi,

Yes I'd be interested in that, thank you.

Shall I PM you with my contact details etc?

It is possible that a few parts may still survive there. However, I suspect there is very little from my knowledge of the site, what was found, the ground conditions etc.

Peter S

As promised, herewith a couple of photos I have showing the aftermath of the crash of Topolnicki's Hurricane I have managed to dig out from my files for you. Not fantastic images, but taken secretly on a Box-Brownie camera.

Re: 363rd Fighter Group in Staplehurst

Apart from this huge hole the place didn't change much .
I was wondering that maybe one day we could send some pieces to the Topolnicki family. Unfortunately Juliusz's youngest sister passed away last year in Warsaw but there are other relatives around the world (USA, Canada).
