currency value?

What was the value, during the war of the British Pound? (in dollars) I realize it varied, but just on average.

Also, what is the difference between a pound and a pound sterling?

TIA

Re: currency value?

The pound early in the war was worth 4 dollars. Hence the nickname for the half crown of "half a dollar". There was a devaluation soon after the war to 2.80 dollars and soon after 2.40 to the pound.

Re: currency value?

Sorry forgot. A pound sterling is a pound. Just an expression from the past.
