Re: Alfred Ambs 262 Jet Fighter Ace

Dear David, et al,

Via Eduard Eck, Alfred Ambs was consulted in providing correct marking information for his aircraft to Legend Flyers at Paine Field, Seattle, Washington, for their first static display Me 262. In addition to Ambs, David E. Brown researched the proper application of camouflage for this aircraft. Perhaps the actual application came out a bit too pristine, but at least the best available information had been provided to the project.

Since Ambs' aircraft had racks for R4M rockets, Bob Hammer at the project elected to recreate these as well as dummy R4M's for Ambs' aircraft. Arthur L. Bentley and I contributed information toward this end.

Now completed, the aircraft is available for purchase. A California museum has already expressed an interest.

Regards,
Richard

Richard,

Do you know if Ambs is still in good health and have you or anyone you know had recent contact with him.

Thanks for the info and all the best,

David.

If Alfred Ambs died March 2010, who did you meet then?

Check the date of the original post. It was six months before his demise.
