Crash location for He111 of 4./KG54 carrying StaKap Hptm. Lothar Maiwald on June 2, 1940
Hello,
On June 2, 1940, an He111 of 4./KG54, carrying the StaKap, Hptm. Lothar Maiwald was engaged over the Dunkirk area by British fighters and subsequently crashed or force-landed. His crew was able to return to friendly lines, although two of them were WIA. Does anyone have any information as to the actual location where this crew's plane came down? Presumably it must have force-landed. Any help here would be appreciated. I'm familiar with Peter Cornwell's report on this crash. Regards, |
