How certain and reliable is 26/27 August 1944 for the incident ?. In AFHRA microfilm A5686, this a/c serial doesn't appear in August and September 1944.

Yes, it's no sure... i's one info given by the person who give me the picture,
i found nothing about the serial and the belly landing in any currents documents ...

try contacting the current 36th reunion boys, should be something like 36th Fighter group.org or .net or along those lines and I'm sure they could send you in the right direction on this P-47's history.
