A fascinating late 1945 pic taken near Schongau. I would guess an Erla Bf 109G-10, given the grey camouflage...

First 262 is 111711, second is F1+DA as discussed earlier, third is near the Autobahn at Sheppach (Kuno I)

I still contend this E-bay image is W.Nr. 111685, 9K+FH

Re: Photos 12-15

Note how the damage to the right engine, faint striping to the nose cone and nose camouflage pattern match perfectly to that in this well known color shot. Note also the white fin cap on the tail and the "notch" in the bottom edge of the marking around the rudder.

And, last, the W.Nr. on the tail of 9K+FH.

Re: Photos 12-15

Marc-Anre:

I would say the 109 is more likely a G-14/AS because of the small, regular oil tank behind the spinner. The 605D engine in the K-4 required the large oil tank.

I think that is an F-8 with a "blown" canopy. The F-9 has the BMW 801TS engine which required the "paddle-bladed" prop blades. These are regular 801D type blades. This is a well-published photo.

Re: Photos 12-15

Dan and John,

Could this be a G-8?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Focke-Wulfe-190-...item414b510ba9

Pitot tube on right wingtip; no outer wing weapons; no Morane mast; and what looks like a single ETC 503 bomb rack under each wing.

Re: Photos 12-15

Dan, John

Thanks for your valued informations. John, though I read your opus way back in 1979, it seems I will never master that late Bf 109 typology correctly... Thanks God, you're around to put us back in the right track...

Cheers
Marc
