Very interesting.Shark nose Hurricane in US markings is different.

I see the link is not hot. But if you cut and paste it in your browser it should work. Let me know. I just tried it.

Re: 350 Fighter Group Hurricanes

Hi Rick,
I thought you might like the sharknosed hurricane. I will cotinue to try to track down the specific serial numbers for the squadrons of the 350th Hurricanes. I have theory. Mr. Gleeson gives us 5 serial numbers that went to the MTO and 4 of these were transferred to the USAAF.

1) LB560 'To USAAF 31.10.43'
2) LB595 ' " 12.11.43'
3) LB597 ' " 31.10.43'
4) LB640 ' " 29. 2.44' This one is positively ID'd as the 346th two seater.
5) KX857 - This one is ID'd as the 345th's two seater. Although its markings are still British. But it is a two seater.

If indeed all 350th squadrons had one Hurricane and the 346th had a replacement hurricane this number of 5 Hurricanes makes sense. I will check with my Brazilian friends and see if they know the serial number for the 1BFS (FAB) squadron's Hurricane. The only other problem that arises is that according to Hugh Dow, the 27th FG also had a hurricane. Its photo is posted on the Blog. The photo was taken at the Pisa Air Base, 320th Service Squadron.

Re: 350 Fighter Group Hurricanes

Dear guys

I have just seen this post.

I wonder if some of you could help me with more information about the two seater Hurricane IIc Serial Number KX857 of the 350 Sqn.

Which marking she carried? RAF or USAAF ones? Any idea about the scheme color camouflage?

Many many thanks in advance for any help on this

Kind regards
Santiago
