Re: Bf 109 escorting KG55 at 26th sept 1940
I presume they just went through the formation, firing from the close distance, and fighting over water, they were unable to observe exploding wrecks. More, I have had a look into another book, and it says that 303 downed 2-0-1 Do 17s, this must be subtracted from the number of downed Heinkels. Looks a little bit better, and given that eg. Frantisek downed his He over France, and that there was possibly some friendly fire, the overall result may be not that bad.

pardon me, but what does the 1-0-1 stand for? confirmed/shared/unknown or something like that?

Re: Bf 109 escorting KG55 at 26th sept 1940
Hi, Chris
Do you count only total losses in your german losses overview for this day? I have a few additional losses which I would have included at least as an information These are of course aircraft that returned to german controlled area, but nevertheless sustained damage due to enemy action Regards, Andreas B |
