(DOB: 03.07.21). 11.41 in Erg.Gr./JG 53, assigned to 4./JG 53. 02.43 appt Adjutant in II./JG 53. 05.43 in 6./JG53. 28.07.43 Lt., in Stab II./JG 53, appt Staka 6./JG 53 (to 08.01.45). 01.02.44 promo to Oblt. 24.02.44 Oblt. and Staka 6./JG 53, WIA - by B-17 return fire, landed at Linz. 01.11.44 promo to Hptm. 09.01.45 appt Kdr. IV./JG 53 (to 30.04.45). Credited with 26 victories in approx. 500 missions. From Tom Kracker's datatrove: Hammer, Alfred "Martello" - Hptm. 26 victories - 4./JG-53 (11/41), 6./JG-53 (5/43 Sicily), Stfkpt 6./JG-53 (7/43; 1/44 Reich Def), Kdr. IV./JG-53 (1/45 to end)Bf 109 F-4 Wk# 7412 (10% 3/42) & 7553 (dam 5/42),in 4 Stf, Bf 109 G-2/Trop Werk # 10488 "White 5 + -" in 4/JG-53, Bf 109G-6/Trop "<2 + -" (Comiso Sicily), Bf 109G-6/R6 440190 "Yel 1 + -" (WIA 1/24/44, cabin hit by B-17 return fire at Linz, aircraft OK to return to base) DK-G, EP, EK 1 & 2, Wound Badge, Fighter Operational Clasp271 escort missions around Malta before his first victory, 500+ total. After his 6th victory, his eng failed and he belliy landed G-6 #18398 "Wh 14" at Gerbini on 10 July, 1943. His 10th, a P-38 10 km S of Cilli on 7 January, 1944. A Piper L-4 at Dollot, W of Sens, on 23 August, 1944. A P-47 at La Petit Pierre/Voges on 28 September, 1944. His 15th, a P-51 at Verelise/Nancy on 2 October, 1944. His 18th, a P-51 at Rastatt, SW of Karlsrühe on 1 December, 1944. His 19th, a B-26 in the Ardennes sector on 24 December, 1944. His 26th, an Auster 4/14/45. During the evacuation of Tunis bridgehead in May 1943, he flew out 4 Ground Crew members, one by one. Survived. We hope that this helps. HLdZ DGS |

According to the original JG 53 history from Mr. Prien, the Stfhr. Hauffe of 6./JG 53 was WIA on 13-Jun-44. Is this the loss you're looking for?

- KARL SCHWARZ crashes in a forest near (xxx) around four o clock on 14 March 1945. - for 100% confirmed. Sorry but I can not inform about more details witout permission other person.
