Re: S/Sgt G.A. Stidham, USAAF

Hello,

From the armyairforces.com website.

Marc Benson of Wisconsin reports that-

"S/Sgt. Stidham and fellow crewmate S/Sgt. Garland L. Strang were both killed when they wandered into a minefield. I think it was at the Snettisham Gunnery range."

All for now
Alex

Ooops... Alex beat me to it.

Marc, over on the armyairforces forum has posted that Stidham and Strang were killed when they walked into a minefield, possibly on the Snettisham Gunnery range. This accident apparently happened 18 May 43.

Re: S/Sgt G.A. Stidham, USAAF

All,
Thanks very much for your efforts in solving this issue.
It turned out to be a sad story. Being killed in action is bad enough, but airmen wandering into a minefield during gunnery training must probably rank high on the list of tragic and unlikely ways to get killed.
Kind regards
Ivo de Jong
