Potassium cyanide capsule?? Seems pretty unlikely - and maybe some fanciful reportage! To me, and without knowing the detailed nature or circumstances of the find or dive, it does seem strange that this was mis-identified as a Ju 87 and that it took so long to understand the error. There are, generally, sufficient clues (even in broken up wrecks) to establish airframe type at an early stage, and I'd have thought this to have been the case here. It isn't a criticism of the project, but an expression of some surprise! |

Der Spiegel ...
http://www.spiegel.de/fotostrecke/fo...cke-83728.html Am I right the engine bearer is made out of Fe (Iron) but not Electron? Some late Jumo´s had Iron engine bearers... Any reader out there that has been to that recovery and has more info? |

Re: stuka recovery from the ostzee
So we will not find out now, possibly later. They seem have suspended the recovery. (Just have a feeling nothing more will be done, as they were looking for an Ju 87 <not an Ju 88>)

Re: stuka recovery from the ostzee
The Ju 88 rear fuselage photo looks like the wreck raised from Lake Balaton which has been restored and is now on display at the Berlin DTM?
Thoughts? Dave |

Re: stuka recovery from the ostzee
Good spotting. That did cross my mind, but as I had not seen this particular image
I assumed this be Rúgen recovery. My mistake entierly. My apologies. Are these images the correct wreck? (Parts recovered in 2012) http://www.flugzeug-bild.de/name/zei...rd-korsch.html Best, Ed |
