Re: From a Luftwaffe crash site 25 km south Salerno. Some idea?

Many thanks for all informations. We had find 2 crash site of USA aircraft in this place, Acerno, 25 km south\east from Salerno.

One is B-24 of lt. Prchal, shot down 11 jan. 1943 (see our reportage here http://www.1943salerno.it/ritrovamen...liberator.html)

The other is A-36 of lt. Gossett, shot down 27 sept. 1943 (see our reportage here http://www.1943salerno.it/ritrovamen...-42-83976.html

In the MACR about lt. Gossett we are unable to read reason of crash. However in the report about Prchal shot down we read in the book LIBERANDOS, p. 92, that bombers were attacked by a Me109 tha was shot down after he shot down Prchal and Payne aircraft. Perhaps this can be aircraft we find? Do you have any news about Me109 shot down 11 january 1943? Thanks.

In the MACR about lt. Gossett we are unable to read reason of crash.
I read the cause of Gossett's loss "bad weather" but I also found the accompanying witness statement impossible to read.
