Michael,

the crash happened at Hohen Neuendorf (located some 8 km south-east of Oranienburg north-east of Berlin!). The GQM gives Birkenwerder, which is the next village to Hohen Neuendorf.

The location has nothing to do with Hamburg.

Re: Photos 10-25-12

One other observation on the Do 17 P http://www.ebay.de/itm/ws/eBayISAPI....ht_1109wt_1344, the code appears to be 5F+PH which would be 1.(H)/Auftkl.Gr. 14. Unusual for a Do 17 to be in a Heeres unit, but I think that I spot some Hs 126 to the rear.

Re: Photos 10-25-12

Ian,

Is that narrow white (?) stripe typical for that unit? Was it confined to a certain time period?

Thanks,
Ed

Some (H)Staffel had had night reconnaissance sections, which were equipped with Do 17P/M.

Yes I agree that it could be 5F+PM, so 5.(H)/14. This existed from Aug 1940 to Dec 1941, but I do not have any photos of aircraft from this staffel, so cannot confirm use of the Do 17 P or the white nose band.
