Re: BF 110 VK+KL wrecked
Quote:
Currently, Michael Balss is of the opinion this loss took place on the 27th of April (because of the date on the Namentliche Verlustmeldung attached). This loss may relate to a claim of a 100 Group Mosquito of 239 Squadron which dispatched an 'Me 110' in the Essen area at 01:50 hrs (this claim is listed in the Nachtjagd Combat Archive 1944 part two). The latter source mentioned credits "239 Squadron Mosquito DZ309 in the hands of F/Os Depper and Follis" with the kill but on the 28th of April at 02:07 hrs... Now, I don't know which date exactly is correct. Who knows more? Last edited by TigerTimon; 12th April 2021 at 17:32. Reason: removed bold highlighting |

Re: BF 110 VK+KL wrecked
Fellows—What follows is intended to clarify, simplify, and document the question of the "Bf 110 V K + K L Wrecked." Some of my comments may already have been noted.
• The photograph in the first posting on this thread carried the SKZ V Q + K L. It was a Bf 110G-4, WNr. 5338. • The V Q + K L belly landed in Switzerland on 06.02.44 and was duly examined by Swiss authorities. The port side overall photograph noted above was presumably made after the landing in Switzerland. For this, see Ries, Deutsche Luftwaffe über der Schweiz 1939-1945, pp. 60-61 with photo exactly duplicating the image initially posted on this thread. • Curiously enough, the Bf 110G-4 WNr. 5347 V Q + K U forced landed in Switzerland on 15.03.44. It carried the Tr.KZ 2 Z + O P of 6./NJG 6. One may refer to Ries, Deutsche Luftwaffe über der Schweiz 1939-1945, pp. 60-61 with photo. RA |
