Re: 2 Mar 1941 Any Luftwaffe casualty matching a AIR50 combat report.

I'm going to have to buy the book!
So, to recap, the aircraft probably was not Wk nr 031 and its was not written off.

And it was many months later that the injury notice was added to the GQM.

For my purposes, Crabb did attack an aircraft, damaged it enough that it was forced to make a wheels up landing in Norway, but it was not a write off and no one was killed.

Records say Wk Nr 0031 was the ac involved on 2 Mar 41 and if so, was not written off

Chris,

"From my forthcoming book:"

Could you please tell us just a little about it ? Seems very interesting. It's unfair to tease us, especially at Christmas time !

Regards,

Martin.

Re: 2 Mar 1941 Any Luftwaffe casualty matching a AIR50 combat report.

Hi,

Here's a little more from the German side about this mission and combat:

"

This was the only daylight Luftwaffe aerial victory claim on the Western Front on this day.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Martin
Fw 200 Combat Units is with Osprey for publishing early next year. This will be followed middle next year with a Fw 200 photo album book for Frontline & finally in 2017, a more complete & in depth book together with another respected author for a publisher who is in the midst of a contract for it

- Fw 200 C-3 [F8+DH] I/KG 40 (Luftwaffe)
Temporary repair without fuselage Gondola
Known unservicable at Gardermoen 06.07.1941 [NA HW13/95 SALU 141 - PART II (dated 10.07.41 - in notes and revisions).]
- III/KG 40 - F8+BT - Damaged (40%) at Lechfeld 13.10.1941

Interesting. Puzzled that it was damaged at Vaernes 8 Sep 42 having been 100% on 31 Jul 42? I have the 8 Sep 42 ac as being C-2 Wk Nr 0081 F8+CK

As I said, file is corrupt with "old" info; had info from handwirtten (not mine) notes included, now this one has been corrected :-)
