I recently saw some reprints of guidance booklets for U.S. servivemen coming to the UK in 1942 to help them deal with their culture shock on coming here, also similar ones for British servicemen on meeting the French following D-Day. Can't remember which shop might have been Waterstones,

One of the Squadrons painted their SPADs in 'Eastah Eggs' colours, but this was post war I think. Definetelly most colourful were Russian aircraft, then possibly Italian.
