				Re: eBay: Allied intrest
#1 is interesting. It shows Spitfire Vc JK333, with a code of W and a badge which is unknown to me (anyone?) This aircraft was dispatched to North Africa on 1 Oct 43, after which there is no trace of it until it was PSOC on 1 Jan 47 - this was a catch-all date for "lost" aircraft. http://www.airhistory.org.uk/spitfire/_prodn%20list.txt records it with 185 Sqn which was in Italy in the 1943-1945 time frame. Further info very welcome. |

				Re: eBay: Allied intrest
SqnLdr. I, N, MacDougall claimed a Can't Z506b on August 20th'43 whilst flying JK333 Also F/Lt Thomas William, Willmott DFM piloted JK333 185 Sqdn in September'43. JK333 was a presentation aircraft (?) named "Harmatris". OR Was this the name of the ship that took JK333 to the Mediterranean War area ? Last edited by Alex Smart; 28th July 2025 at 20:39. |

Post 3510. Photo 2. P-47D-2 42-7993 "Bromo Baby" War-Weary ex. 352FG; taken on by 339BS/96BG at Snetterton Heath as a "hack". She had a painting of Disney's "DOC" on cowling. Crashed at 447BG base Rattlesden on 23 March 45. probably on a "joy-ride". The fancy "Z" was the 3rd. Div. designator, possibly no relevance here though. Photo 4. B-24H 42-52392 J4-O "Wabbit Twacks" 458BG from Horsham St. Faith; lost 8 April 44 on Mission 291 to Brunswick, engine smoking after fighter attacks. MACR 3786. Bad day for 2nd. Div. losing 30 B-24s Photo 6. B-24 "Dopey" artwork ? Nick |

				Re: eBay: Allied intrest
The writing on Photo 2 is Bronc, not Bromo. For those outside the U.S., a bronc is a reference to a horse. |

Thanks Nick. Photo 6 has what appears to be the word Marshall next to the drawing. |

				Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi Ed. There's another photo of the P-47 in the 352FG "Bastards" history showing BROMO BABY; also the artwork is Grumpy not Doc (Grumpy was the one with the long beard). The name may refer to "Bromide". The 486FS had other Snow White characters, Doc, Happy, Sneezy, Grumpy and Snow White. "Marshall" looks like written in chalk so may be temporary. I agree. Marshall does appear to be written in chalk. |
