Ju88 Loss Data for I./KG 54, October 1942

Hi Fellas,

Could someone kindly refer me to a source that provides details regarding the specific losses of Ju88 aircraft ( by Werknummer ) of the I./Kampfgeschwader 54 as a consequence of the raids on Malta during the first three weeks of October, 1942?

I appreciate any help.

Paul

Paul

Radtke in his Kampfgeschwader 54 von der Ju 52 zur Me 262 has a list which unusually enough also gives the WNr. Don't know however how complete it is.....

Reading the english reports I ve got the sentiment that german bombers crews put not a big emphasis in the accuracy of their bombing, did they fear so much the Maltian' flak ??

Re: Ju88 Loss Data for I./KG 54, October 1942

Very interesting post gentlemen. I have in my hands a greek travelguide of the Sporades Islands. In this guide there is a photo of the Ju-88 wreck of Psathura island! There are also some infos given by a diver named Giorgos Drosakis , the man who have found it in 1991. Among these infos there is the date of the incident , May 1942. According to this article the only eyewitnesses of the incident was the lighthouse-keeper of Psathura island and his family.

Re: Ju88 Loss Data for I./KG 54, October 1942

Hello dear Tasos,
could you give us some further information regarding the discovery of that specific airplane.
I will really appreciate that and I think the other memebers as well.

1. Is the plane salvaged and if yes do you know weather is recovered and displayed to the public? Maybe in Tatoi or Tanagra?

2. If is not salvaged do you know if is still, untouched and in good shape, there?

3. Do you know how deep does it lay? The deeper the better because of the souvenir collectors.

4. Are you so kind to scan the article (included photos) and the information of Mr. Giorgos Drosakis and attach it here?

I thank you very much in advance for all your efforts!!!

DG
