Re: Forgotten Heroes - Aces of the Royal Hungarian Air Force in WWII (second revised, expanded edition)

In the annexes of vol. 2 of Hungarian Fighter Colours (MMP Books, 2014), pages 357-392, we included all known air victory claims reported by Hungarian fighter and fighter-bomber pilots (with a caveat on page 356). However, we didn't count them, so the total is unknown to me. Additionally, victory claims reported by other Hungarian airmen (incl. those scored by firing from the ground) should be added as well. I am afraid, no accurate final score can be tallied, unfortunately.

Good afternoon Dénes,

thanks for the hint.
I think the Hugarians claimed about 500 kills in WW2.

Have a fine week,

Michael

Hi Knusel, I found a good statistics regarding Hungarian air victory claims in a book by Punka, Sárhidai and Zsák, from 2017.
The overall total is actually way more than 500, as follows:
Fighter and fighter bomber claims: 578 (+44)
Long-range recce crews: 33 (+1)
Short-range recce crews: 15
"Fast bomber" crews: 13
Bombers: 14
Dive bombers: 6
Shot down from ground by air force personnel: 6
--------------------------------------------------------
Total: 665 (+45) = 710 victory *claims*
