Junkers Ju 88 G-1, werknummer 710639 from .10/NJG 3

Good night to all!
What happened to Oblt W. Briegleb on the night of 6th October 1944 ( 20:22hs ) near Opsterland - Holland?
Did he crash this plane due to mechanical problems; or was he shot down and baled out?
Any information and additional data like the codes ( D5 + ?? ) would be of great help.
Yours
Adriano

Hi Adriano,

The WASt NVM states the aircraft was shot down by enemy night fighter and the only casualty was the BF Fw Paul Kowalewski, born on the 05.02.1921 in Goldenau/Allenstein. He was originally buried at the Heldenfriedhof Leeuwarden, sorry might not be correct spelling. The aircraft code was D5 + EV. Hope this helps.

Regards

Melvin

Melvin,
Thank you so much for your kind help and the most valuable information. I did not know that a crewmember was killed on this incident.
Any information about the RAF Night Fighter crew that claimed the Ju 88?
Thanks a lot!
Adriano
