Re: Escape and evasion reports
Good Morning North American !
All those losses were on 25 August 1944 in the area of St Quentin. The Squadron was bounced by German FW 190. In the case, that of your requested individuals e&e reports were compiled, you'll find them in the National Archives. Myself ordered a number of them, but I was provided with the number of the record in a book. But looking at the date (Falaise pocket e.g) I'm afraid, that the men found very quick back to U.S. hold territory and no e&e reports are existing. All the best ! Horst Weber |

Re: Escape and evasion reports
Thank you for your reply Horst !
Is there a list or an index with the report number and the pilots's names somewhere ? What is the process for ordering these reports to the National Archives ? Do you have the direct link to the web page for ordering these? thank you |

Re: Escape and evasion reports
North American !
I received my information from the book "Heavy Bombers of the Mighty Eight" by Paul M. Andrews and William H. Adams, Project Bits and Pieces, published by the Eght Air Force Memorial Museum Foundation in 1995. This book is a very fine and comprehensive work, detailing the fate of almost each 8th AF bomber. They list in a very short, but understabdable form the s/n of the a/c and some more details, in the case of loss the pilot, the case of loss, the MRCA-number and, if happened, the E&E number(s) of the case together with some more short facts. On my experience, those reports were compiled number by number in the order when the evaders showed up again. For example, there was a loss of a 306th BG B-17 on 6 September 1943 near Rouen, France. Four crews evaded capture. The numbers of those E&E-reports are 169, 173, 179 and 262 and the MACR-number is 518. So, there must be a list. If you have the number, it is no problem to order it. If you don't have a nnumber of the report, you probably gain more information about the matter at the National Archives. Unfortunately, I have no information about E&E reports of 9th AF and 8th AF Fighter Command. All the best ! Horst Weber |

Re: Escape and evasion reports
Thank you Horst ! I am also looking for a list of fuselage codes for the
P-38s of the 367th FG with serials or pilots names . The codes begin with H5 for 392nd FS, 8L for 393th FS and 4N for the 394th FS. Do you know where can i find them ? Thank you for your help... |
