p-38, not missing?
Hi All,
a p38 (confirmed!) crashed on 13th June 1944 (acc to chronicle) nr Brunico/Riscone (Reischach) Südtirol, Northern Italy. But there is no loss in MACRs and no hit in KU reports for this day and the crashsite is not mentioned anywhere in any document. Do you have suggestions how to solve this problem. Pilot KIA.(confirmed). Thanks for help! ginamod |

Re: p-38, not missing?
If date/type is correct, it must be Lt. Donald A. Kuske from 1st FG/71st FS, he was the only KIA Lightning pilot of 15th AAF on that day (on a München escort mission) MACR is 6082

Re: p-38, not missing?
Dear Friends,
trying so many days and months and names I made a MISTAKE: So sorry Please use 13th JULY 1944!! (not June) Thanks for your effort, I hope for new information. Greetings Roland Hi All, a p38 (confirmed!) crashed on 13th July 1944 (acc to chronicle) nr Brunico/Riscone (Reischach) Südtirol, Northern Italy. Re: p-38, not missing?
Daniel & Csaba,
we have checked lt. Kuske already and found that there is a location "Reischach" too in Bavaria. But many data do not correspond with this area and pilot, especially the day of crash. Many Thanks dear friends! Roland |

Re: p-38, not missing?
If 13 July, 1944 it must be 1st FG again (14th FG and 82nd FG lost no KIA pilot on that day).
1st FG lost 4 KIA's on 13 July: 27th FS lost three KIA on a Lavariano fighter sweep George F. Eldred (MACR 6805) Thomas E. Wood (MACR 6806) Leo E. Lemons (MACR 6804) IIRC all three were reported down in target area Fourth pilot was a freshman from 94th FS, Lt. Howard Micheli. He went missing in his very first combat mission. Target was the same. Perhaps he is your man. MACR is 7192 |
