Re: Me 109 Photo - E-Bay

Messerschmitt Bf109E-1 (3553) supposedly ditched in the English Channel on August 28, 1940, its pilot, Uffz Herbert SPRINGER of 7./JG3, being rescued by the SND. Unusual positioning of the Werk Nummer also. Caveat Emptor methinks.

Hello Andy, Hello Peter,

"Caveat Emptor" hesaid! Not only for this picture... Have a look on this seller others...

Not only positioning, size and style too.
This 3553 looks like a typical US stencil; just have a sharp eye on the first 3.

Re: Me 109 Photo - E-Bay

Sorry about that. I'll try again.

Greetings,

Is there any chance that this might be Bf 109 E, WNr. 3552, that was captured at Fürth? Many of its features match that aircraft.

....

Well, well, well...
So, no US stencil. OK, I surrender.
But I'm not convinced to see a "2".

Franck.
