Staka 4./Z.G. 26
Staka 4./Z.G. 26
I have a loss of an Oberleutnant of 4./ZG 26 FF. Oblt. Reinhard Hubel (WIA) Bf 110 E1 (W.Nr. 4088) with BF. Fw. Werner Straube (WIA) Flaktreffer 09.07.41 Voula by Athens Is the name Hubel correct? There is also an Oblt. Reinhold Heubel, Staka of 4./ZG 24 (?), is that the same person? thanks in advance Byron |

Re: Staka 4./Z.G. 26
A search of our database reveals only:
HEUBEL, Reinhold. 20.05.41 Oblt. and Staka 4./ZG 26, KIA - shot down into the sea by AA fire near Heraklion (Bf 110). A search of the Kracker Archive reveals nothing. The two you mentioned are likely the same guy. We hope that this helps. HLdZ DGS |

Re: Staka 4./Z.G. 26
Thanks Doug,
This officer appears twice in my data base 1.) FF. Oblt. Reinhold Heubel, Bf 110 (3U+AM, W.Nr. 3979) 100% with. BF. Fw. Heinz Schrodt, (WIA) 20.05.41, Flaktreffer N. Iraklion, and 2.) FF. Oblt. Reinhold Heubel (WIA) Bf 110 E1 (W.Nr. 4088) with BF. Fw. Werner Straube (WIA) Flaktreffer 09.07.41 Voula by Athens, he was a very lucky man |

Re: Staka 4./Z.G. 26
Hi Evgeny,
thank you for your intervention my problem ist still not resolved. I am asking: 1) Since Athens (and Vula) was on 09.05.41 in german hands, which Flak could have a "Flaktreffer" against him ? A british ship ? 2) I have an other Staka of 4./ZG 26 named Hptm. Paul Kleiner. Was he bevor or after Heubel? I would like to know the Stakas during 1941 (von...bis), any idea? |

Re: Staka 4./Z.G. 26
"Athens" could be a crash place, not damage place. I mean he could be shot up at othe place, and tryed to reach german hold territory and crashland there.
About Kleiner - I would be pleased to hear about his ZG26 service too, as there are many lack in my "ZG26" CO list. Doug - any infos?

Re: Staka 4./Z.G. 26
Guys
The easiest explanation regarding the 9.5.1941 incident to Hubel, (Heubel or perhaps even Hübel?) is that he fell victim to friendly fire. With regard to the St Kap problem of 4./ZG 26 I doubt that Paul Kleiner was either before or after Hubel since he was killed the same day, that is on May 20th, 1941. I have to admit it feels strange that he was a Hptm in this unit while the St Kap Hubel was "only" an Oblt. The norm must after all have been to have the leader of a unit to have the highest rank, although there could be others with the same rank within the unit. Incidentally Meyer/Stipdonk in their Vol IV of their Zerstörer und Nachjagdverbände list Hubel as a Hptm and St Kap between 1.10.1940 to 7.10.1941 B Rgds Stig |

Re: Staka 4./Z.G. 26
True, I have a case within JG 6 where a Hptm. was posted to the Staffel which was led by a Leutnant as Staffelführer which he remained.

Re: Staka 4./Z.G. 26
A search of our personnel database reveals:
Staka 4./ZG 26: Hptm. Siebelt Reents (01.05.39 – 16.12.39) Hptm. Herbert Lüttke (? – 18.08.40 KIA) Oblt. A. Niebuhr (? – 27.09.40 KIA) Oblt. Reinhold Heubel (? – 20.05.41 KIA) We hope that this helps, although this is very incomplete. HLdZ DGS |
