Personnel Losses for Zerstörergruppen on Reichs Defense

There are some holes in my loss data for the ZGs on Reichs Defense. All that are lacking are personnel losses (KIA, MIA, WIA) for the following:

II./ZG 1: 3 Apr 44, 30 Jun 1944
Stab/ZG 26: 30 Jan 44
I./ZG 26: 4 Jan 44, 30 Jan 44, 25 May 1944
II./ZG 26: 4 Jan 44
Stab/ZG 76: 30 Jun 1944
I./ZG 76: 30 Jan 44, 14 Jun 1944, 27 Jun 1944, 30 Jun 1944
II./ZG 76: 23 Apr 44, 14 Jun 1944, 27 Jun 1944, 30 Jun 1944
II./ZG 101: 24 Feb 44

Sorry that this list is so long. I've got data on the material losses, and, in most cases, details on the missions. All I need now are the number of personnel lost for each unit & date. Names, etc. may have to wait for later.

Any help appreciated.

Horrido!

Re: Personnel Losses for Zerstörergruppen on Reichs Defense

Hi Peter --

Thanks for filling the ZG 76 hole so nicely. I apologize to the rest of the members for posting such a greedy request -- I knew better, but time is pressing in. But now, my only ZG loss problems are a few dates for ZG 1, ZG 26, and ZG 101. Anyone?

Horrido!

Don

Hi Peter --

Thanks for the continued help. My II./ZG 1 coverage is good, thanks to John Vasco's work. The 3 Apr 44 loss was operational, non-combat. Apparently there were no casualties.

Re: Personnel Losses for Zerstörergruppen on Reichs Defense

PETER and Don,
I know this is mostly a thread of yours, but Peter, could you put the ZG 76 losses for the overall member? I mean, a lot of us do have more interest on one or another thread here and I guess a lot of students ( like myself ) of Military History would enhance their knowledge...this would help us to check some USAAF claims, etc...I do not know if you can or can not put those losses ( ZG 76 ) down here...if they are huge in size, etc...but it would be most welcomed if you could.
Please excuse me if I am being to direct or disrespecting you - this is not my intention.
All the best on your private researches and please keep writing!
Yours
Adriano Baumgartner

Re: Personnel Losses for Zerstörergruppen on Reichs Defense

Adriano,
sorry, here are the summaries...I know that I should post it directly...apologize.

Stab/ZG 76:

30 Jun 1944: NO losses recorded, material nor personal...just I. Gruppe had some and was involved in combat.

I./ZG 76:
30 Jan 1944: NO personal losses, one Bf 110 destroyed, both men survived. Names not known...
14 Jun 1944: 2 KIA, 4 WIA
27 Jun 1944: 2 KIA, 3 WIA
30 Jun 1944: 1 KIA, 1 WIA

II./ZG 76:
23 Apr 1944: 4 KIA, 1 WIA, 1 FSA
14 Jun1 1944, 1 KIA
27 Jun 1944: 2KIA
30 Jun 1944: 1KIA, 1 WIA

As most of the TOCH members could notice, I am working on history of ZG 76 (1943-45), so there fore no details, if I may keep it wait for book But USAAF claims are possibly matched in the text, some cases for 100%

regards

Re: Personnel Losses for Zerstörergruppen on Reichs Defense

Thanks Peter!
May I ask you IF there is already available on the marked a First Volume covering the creation - til 1943 of ZG76? Your work sounds very interesting...would it be in English? PLEASE do advise me when it will be available. I do have a tremendous interest on this Zerstorergruppe and some of his earlier pilots as well.
Many thanks for the additional information by the way...we all learn a bit more!
Yours ( and keep us advised please! )

Re: Personnel Losses for Zerstörergruppen on Reichs Defense

Hi Adriano and all others,

No there is not First volume ready yet.
However there exists unofficial Zerstorer Research Workgroup.
There are two guys who works on ZG 1 history...Early years, Russia, and RVT.
We know one man that is interested and works on ZG 26 detailed history.
Two other researchers are working on I. ZG 76 and II./ZG 76 histories separately. The later mentioned will be the first one out, AFAIK.
And me, working on ZG 76 1943-45.
So a lot of data possibly concentrated. But all of it needs more or even "more-er" time and effort.
I am planning mine to be published hopefully in 2012, if all goes OK. We will see...it got complicated when WASt stopped the replies
But we manage somehow I believe.

regards
