Has John Alison's P-40 been recovered?

In the night of July 30, 1942, Major John R. Alison managed to shoot down 3 "Sally" bombers but his aircraft was damaged by return fire. He managed to ditch in the Xinjang river and was rescued by a Chinese boatman. Does anyone know if a recovery attempt of his P-40 has been made? Regards.

According to accounts at the time, Alison's P-40 was raised from the river by the Chinese and hauled to the airbase shortly after the mission. It likely was cannibalized for parts.

Re: Has John Alison's P-40 been recovered?

Is this the same Lt John Allison that air tested RAF Tomahawk IIB's at Yadonik, Archangel in October/November 1941. I know a Lt Allison was in Moscow, Russia at this time and then went up to join Lt Zemke at Arhangle who did most of the flight testing (Hub Zemke). I think they air tested about 30 P40B's. The P40's were assembled by a small RAF team.

regards

Mark
