8th Airfoce Museum's in Norfolk. Would like to visit them, but which should I visit first?

Now that doesn't mean I don't want to visit all of them, it just means is there a more comprehensive one out of all of them?

I am considering Thorpe Abbotts, the home of the "Bloody" 100th as a starting point, however as I have never visited any of these museums I wonder if there are any with, what other visitors have considered, 'stand-out' memorabilia and detail?

Hope some of you can advise me, cheers, MP

MP -
The 390th BG at Framlingham has a Nice Museum and Control Tower.
The 379th BG at Kimbolton has a Small Museum.
The 357th FG at Leiston has a small Museum and Memorial - you can
take a break there and have a Pint at the Cakes and Ale Pub.
The 306th BG at Thurleigh has a Museum.
I know there are Several more - Have Fun!

Don't forget though that at this time of year, many of these small museums shut down for the winter and will not reopen until spring. Even then, many are only open at weekends, although in most instances the volunteers who maintain them will usually arrange to open specially for you by prior arrangement. Seeing as the fighters are my speciality, perhaps I might suggest the 56th one at Halesworth. They will certainly welcome you and open by arrangement. The local pubs there are also worth looking into for lunch! Try their respective web sites for contact details.

Peter, how remiss of me. I was thinking of Bomber Groups, but of-course the 56th FG were based at Halesworth.

I had good contact with Buzz Took and Richie Pymar there who helped me when I created a short animated film about Robert S. Johnson's battle on June 26th:

I think I could certainly make that a port of call. Thanks for the reminder, cheers.

While not a dedicated 8th AF museum, the Flixton Air Museum:

www.aviationmuseum.net

has quite a lot of 446BG and 8th USAAF material.

Similarly, the City of Norwich Aviation Museum at Horsham St Faith, on the N side of Norwich International Airport, has a display on the 458BG who were based there.

Not wishing to appear territorial, but the aforementioned museums at Parham, Leiston, Holton (Halesworth) and Flixton (above) are all located in the county of SUFFOLK. The original poster asked about museums/displays in NORFOLK.
