A number of photos are appearing on eBay of crash landed Do 17s at this airfield-can anyone tell me what KG 3 aircraft ended up this way?

Re: Do 17s Larissa 1941
Hi Chris,
This Do 17Z and Do 17P 6M+GK, also from Larissa, were probably the most photographed aircraft in the Balkans in the spring of 1941, as everybody with a camera stopped by and took a shot. Hardly a month passes without a new photo of them on ebay... |

Re: Do 17s Larissa 1941
Hi Boris,
i think you mean the Do 17 P1 6M+GK W.Nr. 3282 of 2(F)11, crash landed at 18.04.41 at Larissa airport |

Re: Do 17s Larissa 1941
In respect of the Do 17 Z, I think we might be looking at 2 aircraft. I have 2 shots which show 5K+C or G, both engines stopped, darkened spinners, damage to starboard wingtip and upper canopy missing. It also says on the back of one of the photos that it was taken at 'Ptolm.....' which isn't Greek! other photo taken from port side shows letter G and whitewashed spinner and cowling?

Re: Do 17s Larissa 1941
Hello Chriss,
The first one Do 17 which crush landed in Larissa was a "P1" and not "Z" of 2(F)11 as we said. The other one you mentioned could be destroyed in Ptolemais, a little town with an airport in north GR. On the 18.04.41 a Do 17 P1 W.Nr. 1067 from the Stabstaffel of St.G. 2 collided with a Me 109 in Ptolemais and was totally destroyed. 5K+C.. was a plane of St.G. 3 and not of St.G. 2, but it maybe was attached to this unit. Such a thing took place during the war. Possible? |

Re: Do 17s Larissa 1941
Photos are definitely of a Z and no Russian Front fuselage bands and painted cowlings would indicate Greece and the Balkans
