8 November 1940 JG26 - JG51 claims

Hello all.

I typed this into the untrusted AI mode and came up with some of the following names etc. So, I wanted to go to the expert sources to check this is correct, and an add on plea, if I may.

08 Nov 1940.

Me109s bounced Hurricanes of No. 46/249 Sqn off the Isle of Sheppey, late afternoon. They over compensated the throttle and one Me109 was chased down by Flight Lieutenant Alexander Rabagliati shot this Me109 down 10 miles off the Dover coast.

- Is this correct, and if so, what M109 and pilot was this?

Flt Lt Farley was also engaged and the internet says this was most likely a pilot from JG26 or JG51. It looks like the time was around 16:25Hrs. Any takers?

Thanks in advance.

Danny

This appears to have been taken from John Foreman's book The Forgotten Months. 6./JG 26 suffered a Bf 109 damaged in combat which force-landed at Le Portel. No time. II./JG 26 claimed 5 ac that day starting 1135hrs and the last one 1740hrs. I./JG 51 claimed 6 ac starting 1210hrs and last one 1523hrs; no losses.

I have tried to work out events of the day for my book on Skalski, but I do not have it on hand to check.
As I recall, it was very messy, and it looks 501 engaged JG 26 but filed no claims. Then this was revised on report of ROC, and credited to the Squadron, and then in 1942 to individual pilots. Seemingly JG 26 aircraft was damaged in the combat.
