location in France?
Is there a village, town or location called Herby in eastern France near Reims?

Hi John,
There is two locality named "Herby"in France: -Herby near Ottange (57), -Herby Fays near Gezoncourt (54), and distance between Reims and them is at least 100km. Are you sure about the spelling ? Thanks, Jean-Paul. Well, it is shown in Frappe's La Luftwaffe in Normandie book, page 351 to the northeast of Reims. There is no map scale but it does not look like 100km. Maybe I am misjudging the distance?

the aerodrome you are looking for is in the Ardennes. Herpy l'Arlésienne, aerodrome built and completed June 06, 1944. Used by the JG6. @+ Joel |

Herpy (FR) (a.k.a. Herpy-l’Arlésienne) (49 31 00 N – 04 12 00 E) General: landing ground in NE France 33 km NNE of Reims, 18.5 km E of Sissonne – La Malmaison landing ground and immediately SW of the village of Herpy-l’Arlésienne.
History: built early summer 1944 and probably became serviceable in July. Surface and Dimensions: measdured approx. 1280 meters (1400 yards) in length. Infrastructure: none noted. Operational Units: II./JG 6 (Aug 44). Station Units: none identified.
