Re WW1 a/c serial numbers
hello,
With regard to WW1 a/c serial numbers. Air Britain has many books with RAF serial numbers including the J1-J9999. Which includes WW1 survivors. J1 to J6572 were allocated prior to 11-11-1918, but RAF. Is there any reference book or list available that gives aircraft type and serial number for those in service from the formation of the RFC up to the formation of the RAF and on to the 11-11-1918 ? Thanks Alex |

Re: Re WW1 a/c serial numbers
Try Bruce Robertson: British Military Aircraft Serials. It exists in various editions. My copy is subtitled 1912-1963. Later editions end later, and can start earlier. It does not have the detail of individual aircraft that is found in the Air Britian books. It covers serials by blocks; B1701-1850 is 150 Sopwith Pups, etc.
Frank.

Also take a look at http://www.ukserials.com/ , which appears to be based mostly on later editions of Robertson's book.
