Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!
Recently I learned, that before the sale, some stole one of the wings. It has not been found.

Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!
Hello Jörn,
That's terrible news, especially after all the efforts to salvage the remains of this rare bird. One wonders why the remnants have not been stored more secure. This must have been (nearly) the last chance to get an incomplete He219 in a museum in Europe. With sad feelings, best regards, Marcel

Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!
That is what happens when people do not take care of, or secure these items.
Small bits here and there... "maybe"...but an ENTIRE WING! Must have been left outside, and unsecured. |

Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!
Then why even recover it, if the end result is nothing more than a free for all?

Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!
The man behind the recovery did start to renovate it, but during the process he suddenly passed away. And for a while no one did do anything around the parts wich was left out in the open. No museum in Denmark could afford to by and renovate it, so it was sold abroad to the highest bidder.

Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!
An article in the August 2018 edition of Smithsonian's Air&Space magazine describes the effort in Udvar-Hazy's restoration shop on the He219 radar dipoles and how they are being reconstructed from what was found on the Denmark wreckage.
