Question Help needed with ID Luftwaffe fighter - Pommern 1945.

Dears ,

Is it possible on base this parts confirm type of a/c as FW-190 (probably: version A8 or A9 ?)

https://picasaweb.google.com/1128626...J3E2cXj_OP4yAE

Aircraft was hitted probably in period Feb.- March 1945 in area S of Stettin.
Now we are going to start all procedures with a/c ID but it needs some time and special documents as it was before with another pilot from I./JG3.

One part with green painting is white part painted with brush - could be side number from Staffel/Wing ?
Have a look:
https://picasaweb.google.com/1128626...95549501184002
For sure this aircraft was equipped with MG131 gun.

See from ENGINE BLOCK one detail: RINGS CLAMP COLLECTORS Ladeleitunger Ref.: 9.139.792.425
looks lik this one first up:

Here is "wrack" part the same detail:
https://picasaweb.google.com/1128626...94107482806498

Some parts you can see here similar in this catalogue:
http://www.aviatroglo.fr/-CATALOGUE-.html

If You have own type of pilots KIA/MIA/WIA or interesting information for ID please contact on e-mail:
Huball25@poczta.fm

Thanks in advance for support.

Kris

Re: Help needed with ID Luftwaffe fighter - Pommern 1945.

Amazing destruction of an aircraft. I have scoured the parts and all of my FW190 books and documents and came up with nothing.

But, on this Website: http://www.vrbacky.com/Fw190/Motory.html

in the picture of the BMW801D, the rear end of the starter motor appears similar to the first few images from the picasa web. The slotted (bakelite or phenol ) piece is similar. Most other images of the engine with the starter, that section of the starter is covered with a metallic wrap, possibly of stainless. This site was the only one where it was visible.

I found it searching on google images for BWM801D, and it is easier to visualize from there instead of the vrbacky website.

Again, I am only suggesting similarity.

I would say your comparison of ring clamp collectors is a match.

Tony

Re: Help needed with ID Luftwaffe fighter - Pommern 1945.

The first 5 pictures are not a starter but part of one fuel capacity gauge (see rubber).
Parts are pretty common so no easy to tell a precise version.

Re: Help needed with ID Luftwaffe fighter - Pommern 1945.

Hello. The steel part that is compound curved looks like the armored ring for the oil cooler. If this is true, the type identification could be made by measuring the thickness of the steel part. If it is 10mm thick then it was part of an A-9 engine. The steel part that covered the oil tank directly behind the front armored ring would be 6mm thick if it were on an A-9 cover. Keep in mind the BMW801 D and TS engines were interchangeable and if the engine were replaced, an A-8 could have hade the more powerful TS engine installed. The propeller hub is no help because the Metal VDM 9 used the same hub as the propeller on the BMW 801D engine, but check me on that to be sure. I hope this helps you, but without a data plate or W.Nr. you will never really be able to prove it one way or another.

Cheers!

- have You picture of this gauge mounted on device ? Where it was installed (on picture) please.

Thanks !

Yes with thicknes 6 mm or 10 mm we can also check version - You have right I read about it .
Of course for technical data plate we must wait until deeper exploration but it need permission ( so we are waiting)

Re: Help needed with ID Luftwaffe fighter - Pommern 1945.

Hi Chris

Without type label or data plate the identification is impossible. The strength of the armored ring from oil cooler is not indicative of an A-8 or A-9.
photo 191-193 and 178 show remains from FuG16.
