Re: Bf 109E-1, W.Nr.4065
Hello, Matti
Been able to do a bit of tweaking in Photoshop for the relevant page. Still not able to fully read the third digit, but the cleanup show that the last digit is 2, not 5 or 8. So we now have 40?2 for this Bf 109E-3 in my opinion Regards, Andreas B

Re: Bf 109E-1, W.Nr.4065
Hi Gents,
Prien JFV Teil.2 page 513: 18/11/1939 JGr. 101 Notlandung bei Hoya, 30% Bf 109 E-1 W.Nr. 4048. And, Andreas, I agree with Matti to read 4048, even if that's not that obvious. Please, JG 101 didn't exist in 1939. Regards, Franck. |

Re: Bf 109E-1, W.Nr.4065
I think you should do some checking again, when treated with filters and color saturation the wavy line of the bottom of a 2 is definitely there for the last digit. I have also compared the shapes of the last digit of this entry with the shapes of the other two numbers 8 on the same page and in the vicinity of the digits we are looking at, and the shapes when treated does not appear similar.
Until other data which is more readable appear l will stick with 40?2. If anyone has got further info I am interested. Worst thing is that I think I have identified the aircraft in the repair facility listings - unfortunately this airframe seems to have been sent to Land- u. See-Leichtbau G.m.b.H. Berlin, Werk Neumünster, a company that did not enter the aircraft WNr in the lists of aircraft undergoing repair at their facility. I will check a bit more. Regards, Andreas B
