Giulio Giovine SCW
Hi,
today i found this pilot lost in this web: http://aircrewremembered.com/giovine-giulio.html The only information we have is that he left Italy for Spain on the 8th April 1938. During his service in Spain he had made some 34 sorties. On July 15th 1938 he was promoted to Captain, sadly the same day he lost his life. any more info? many thanks, regards

Re: Giulio Giovine SCW
The very detailed work of Alcofar Nassaes - La aviación legionaria en la guerra española (1975) - has info on very many Italian pilots KIA but not in this one. Many pilots KIA were decorated with the postume "Medalla de Oro al Valor Militar" to honour their sacrifice, but I could not find Gioveni among the recipients listed in the book. Could it be that he was killed in an accident that was not related to enemy action?
Giulio Gioveni was buried in Zaragoza (Monasterio de San Agosto) according to Alcofar Nassaes. |
