JU-352A-1

Seen somewhere on the Eastern Front the single production variant of
JU-352A-1 ( tri cycled ) Any idea regarding the airfield depicted ?

Re: JU-352A-1

Misleading statement. There were 50 examples of the Ju 352 A-1 produced, and this was derivative of the Ju 252, using totally different materials and engines. It did not have tricycle gear, here rear ramp is deployed (down), and thus lifting the tail. It was Tri-Motor (three engined) not tri-cycled. But then everybody does not know, in fact this was highly successful Military Transporter, but coming too late to have impact on the wars progress.

Re: JU-352A-1

Once again I make reference to the RLM Flugzeugprogramm Nr 227 dated 15.12.1944. Here it is stated that a total of 40 Ju 352 had been produced up to 30.11.1944, including the V6 to V20. This could indicate that V1 to V5 were not included and then bring the total output to 45 aircraft.

Re: JU-352A-1

Hi...

Just to point out, this is actually a Ju252 in the photo - it has semi-circular fuselage windows and a tall fin/rudder assembly, rounded at the top. The Ju352 had rectangular fuselage windows and a flat, 'squared-off' fin and rudder. The '352' also had very prominent exhaust outlets on the centre engine, whereas the '252' didn't.

Regards,

Paul

Again... :-) 48 examples with Werknummeren and Stammkennzeichen I have from JFM pilots logbooks. Only two in second batch, KT+VA and KT+VB (352/100001 and 100002) do not appear in them books I have seen copies of. I can not say if they were destroyed in air attacks, as them last were flown in mid September 1944. Here this Lieferplan seems be in error. Lieferprogram´s are not entierly reliable as total source. Most often they "understate", and, same as other countries, some (many) planes were lost before delivery. Newest example be A400 in Spain recently. These five (or three) "missing" might indeed have been still with JFM, as undelivered or at other agency, ie. not appear as planes built for the Luftwaffe.

I will send as pdf your regular mail-box.

regards
Ed
