I agree that this two set books sets a new standard for Luftwaffe color interpretations and that the amount of research is fantastic. Apart from this I think that also Merrick's way of writing deserves to be praised seperately since I think that he uses a very clear and precise language which is enjoyable to read.
The caption to the photo of the Ju 88 remains at Gardemoen is wrong. The caption suggests that the aircraft on the photo is the remains of Ju 88A-5 W.Nr. 0886146 which was recovered from a Norwegian Fjord. In fact the photo is of Ju 88C-2 W.Nr. 0881033 which was recovered from a mountain in Norway which explains why the airframe lacks paint. However Merricks conclusion in the caption "The resistance to corrosion of this finish is evident" is still fully valid. /Mikael |
