Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Hello Steve & Steve,

Thank you for your feedback and information about the Fliegerzielgeschwader 3. Babenhausen was very close to Frankfurt (ca. 25-30 km). The I. and II. Gruppe were disbanded in September 1944, but the III. Gruppe was only disbanded in Feb 1945 when it was based at Schongau (according to ww2.dk), which was between Munich and Switzerland and not so close to Frankfurt.

Could it be that the HW5/569 record referred to the transfer of I./FZG 3's Hs 129s to another unit at Babenhausen since I./FZG 3 was going to be disbanded in September 1944?

Regards,
Roger

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Probably. It depends on the specific terrain movements due to plate techtonics in the past 70 years. I guess a meter at max. ;-)

Post #1450. The nose of the bomber is not fitted with the usual detonator.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

What a coincidence. A photo from "Russian archives" with the same Mistel:

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

I'm always on the lookout for "Russian archive" photos. There appear to be a great many of these being sold as original photos. I've decided they are just copies.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

That bomber was a former Ju 88G-1 night fighter.
