Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hi Marc,
Once again, I must thank you for your hard work and dedication. Regarding this photo, http://www.ww2online.org/image/ameri...e-1944-or-1945, purportedly WNr. 568318, after checking my database and photo files I believe it is more likely: Ar/War-built Fw 190 F-8 (WNr. 588318) 40+ white. Respectfully, Steve Sheflin |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Nice, more pictures of Blue 1......the second D-9 picture is imho not an II./JG 6 a/c but probably an II./JG 2 one......there are no D-9's with red-white-red bands....

That was my mistake: I'm currently in the Swiss Alps....without my library. I'm pretty sure this II./JG 2 plane has been already published, possibly in Jerry Crandall's books. Cheers Marc |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hello Maciej,
Thank you for posting these interesting photos (Post #664). Regarding: http://www.ww2online.org/image/ameri...n-1944-or-1945, this is a beautiful example of an Fw 190 F-8 outfitted for night attack operations. Note that it is fitted with exhaust flame dampers, and that its small yellow plane number 5 has been applied relatively far forward of its Balkankreuz and on its main gear wheel covers. Does anyone recognize the hangar/control tower in the background? Respectfully, Steve Sheflin |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
... and this one looks like a Ju 86 fitted with a FuG antenna: https://49fe30bb3aa7406c16dc-5c96811....297.152_1.jpg Also very interesting, never seen that before (given that the antenna in the picture really belonged to the wreck behind it, of course)
